Beautiful. I guess the price will be dropping for the 1gig and 2gig cards once more of these 4gig cards come onto the market.

When somebody has successfully tested this out on the S2 IS please let us know.

#2. The Canon 350D (Rebel XT) is a digital SLR camera that only takes Compact Flash cards. This is an SD (Secure Digital) card... not the same.

You should be able to find 4gig CF cards for cheaper than this price, something like the Kingston Elite Pro would do nicely and are sometimes on sale for about $180 after rebate. Also the Hitachi 4GB microdrives are a lot cheaper than this.

just in case you were curious like me, 4gb sd cards can't work in a Treo 650, since they have to be formatted FAT16, which as we know is limited to 2gb.

4GB is all the SD memory anybody would ever need on a camera.

I wonder if there's a list of all cameras that can accept a 4GB SD card.

#5 wow.. thanx for that heads-up.. I'm glad I saw your comment before making the purchase to get this 4gb SD for my treo 650..

Do you think they'll come out with a 4gb soon that will be able to use with my 650.. I wanna go all the way 4 sounds so much better than 2 when it comes to storing music..

Transcend and SanDisk claim the Canon S2 IS only does 2gb max. I found a confirmation that the 4gb Transcend does NOT work with the S2. You might e-mail A-Data to check if they do. My S2 works fine with FAT32 formatted cards but I'm not brave enough to drop $200 at a store that has an "all sales final" policy. If you are shooting video, you may just have to settle with 2gb and swap out cards every 15 minutes. The A-Data 2gb works in the S2. Sadly, it looks like the earlier S1 was a lot better at max card capacity.

FAT 16 will always have the 2gig limitation. Question is can you create 2 drives of 2gig on this 4 gig drive? Can you partition it? Then you should be able to use it in a Palm or any device that is limited to FAT 16. BTW typical Palm to be so lame as to be stuck in FAT 16 years and years after that stopped being a standard.

Well #10, FAT16 is usually faster. Once kiddies on websites stop proclaiming victory with lame adjectives about marginal performance differences, we may finally start seeing more detail on features and the market will respond to feature-sets more.

#9, thanks for that info. I'm pretty sure I heard something about the 2GB ceiling for the S2 like you said so I don't have my hopes up right now. If things change in the future I'll definitely look into buying something like this.

The trouble to me seems to stem mainly from the fact that Bay-leafs are vile if you accidentally swallow them during the course of consuming some Basmati rice. Other than that, Im selling memory at a ludicrously low price on www.moistworm.com ( MY website ) , 1gb,2gb,4GB and Rock Salom with vinigeratte dressings , port-cullis weeble threcks too ...but at a price !! Thanks to Angela Dunwoody for pencilling in the melodic panther overhang. Regards, Keckel Weckel threckle the blurred.

Ok, I stand corrected. It looks like someone WAS able to use a 4GB Transcend card with an S2 IS. The trick is you just can't low-level format it in camera. So, it might work but YMMV and better make sure the store has a good return policy.

There's a patch out there somewhere that lets a 4 gig card work in a Treo650. Look for it. It works well.

According to the Transcend web site, the Canon S2 IS works with their 4-GB card.
