Anyone know how this LCD TV compares to the Syntax Olevia 30". I just ordered the Syntax and when all is said and done will have cost me about $1125 but if this is way better and offers better connections (more future proof) I will just get this instead, even if it is smaller.

My Syntax 30 ($1000 AR) is not as good with Adelphia HD as it was with Voom at Microcenter. I'm still trying to get the same gorgeous results as I Know it can give me. There were several sets at the store, including Sony, for two-three times as much. I could adjust the Syntax to pretty much match any of them. And it's only 28.5" wide without the speakers, which can be wall hung easily. Enjoy your buy.

Isn't the Syntax 800x600? and if so then it is not HDTV although it probably accepts HDTV signal, just not display it properly.

The Sharp is better than the Syntax. Especially if you will be using it for non-HD sources (standard TV). The sharp has better electronics for scaling the lo-res source to the resolution of the display.
The Syntax will only have basic capabilities for scaling.
The Sharp is also quite a bit more compact than the Syntax.

#3: No the syntax is not 800x600. It's 1280x768 for the 30" and 1280x720 for the 27", so yes it is true HD.
Also, I have Voom and it looks incredible with Voom HD. There really aren't any LCD that will look good with analog cable. I think the 27" Syntax is the best LCD buy at this point in time. It's around $900. It was available for $470 on Black Friday after PM and rebate. Maybe that will happen again. :-)

#8: #7 said it was $470 on Black Friday (day after thanksgiving). I don't think you can find one new for that price right now.

#8: Frys was selling the 27" Syntax for $799 on black friday. Staples had it for $1099 and a $300 mail-in rebate. People pricematched with Staples at 110% of the difference = $770 then mailed in the $300 rebate for a final cost of $470.

Guys I bought the Syntax 30" for $1125 after all is said and done. I first went to ebates and joined allowing the mo money background software to install. Then went to bacon and joined as well then I clicked the link to Target form bacon's site. Looked for the TV and then checked out and entered the coupon code at Target for 10% off, which I believe expired on the 31st. Ebates was 4% and bacon had 4.4% off. So without shipping and just sales tax I should be around $1125.

Thanks #10. I'll keep that comparison on file. Thanks #9 but I was just curious how it got to that pricepoint and about $800 is the current lowball price for the 27". The $300 MR recently ended.
