I've got one of these from the last deal, but hadn't actually used it till recently.
Maybe mine has a problem...
I'm using DVI, but when I run it at native resolution I get this weird "static" across the screen. Not ghosting -- more like horizontal TV snow. White on black backgrounds; black on white backgrounds... short horizontal streaks that flicker like static all-over.
I don't have another system available to test it out with ... does this sound like a MONITOR issue, or a VIDEO CARD problem? Using the DVI output from an MSI GeForce 5200fx 128mb. Problem only appears at 1024x1280; not at any interpolated resolution. :-(
Thoughts? Other than the static/snow, the picture is quite nice!
(card *is* running at 60 hz). I asked about this before, but figured it wouldn't hurt to ask again!

I have one of these and had the same problem. I think it is a marginal spec issue, not sure if it is the monitor or the video card. It had a problem with my Dell 8300 with a rev 3 5200 card. I saw horizontal noise, from pixels to lines, especially in dark area. It was only through the DVI interface, not the analog. I tried the monitor with my friend's system (AMD based) with an ATI card and it worked fine. Also tried it on another friend's Dell 4600 with a rev 1 5200 card, and it worked fine. Since my system was under warranty, I called Dell and had the card swapped twice, both rev 2, before I got one that works.
PS, the QA on these monitor is terrible. Mine died after 1 week. After swapping it with another unit, it has been working fine so far.

I have the same problem with Planar 17" monitor and Chaintech FX5200 card using DVI at 1280x1024 resolution. I thought it was a failure of the monitor but now I beleive it's the video card. Notice that these cheap video cards are all derived from the same reference design, so different brands do not matter.

I purchased this POS from NewEgg on 10/14/04. Conked out on me on 10/30 (Saturday before Halloween) morning. It wont fire up after bringing the PC back from hibernation - you see the green 'Power' light, and the little 'Click click' sounds u hear just before the screen turns from dark to picture. - But, no picture. I was on DVI, interchanged with D-Sub, no luck. Connected my old monitor (thankfully hadn't junked it on FleaBay yet), and works fine.
I had already sent in the Rebate (should be RECEIVED within 15 days - at wheresmyrebate.com - the same ppl who reject all your Netgear and Viking rebates - need I say more???) Now NewEgg wont take it back because there is no UPC on the box, and Princeton is beating all round the Bush.
I will nail either of the two, (thankfully paid thru Amex), however, as of now, I am back to my old gigantic 19" CRT after paying 500 bucks on this Piece of Crap. Got a 3 year Warranty, my backside. Looks like I will still be keeping the old mastodon 19" CRT as a backup.
Just warning you all, DO NOT be deluded into thinking this thing is ultra reliable or anything because Princeton has been making monitors for 500 years or something. Quality Control and Customer Service is NON-EXISTENT.
Darn thing does not even LOOK like a Non-Piece of Crap on my Desk. I am pissed.
Princeton promised me a new LCD. Once I get it, it is going upopened, on FleaBay.

I have a Hyundai LCD. Turned the brightness down to 5 (setting allows 0 to 100). Turned off monitor. After that, it wouldn't come on. Anytime the monitor is power cycled, the backlight flickers on, then off again. I had to use the on screen menu without a display to dial up the brightness past 10 before it would work again.
Oh, incidentally I got a mail from whereismyrebate.com stating my Netgear rebate has been accepted and is processing. Let's see if they will mail me my check within my lifetime.

Another reason NOT to buy LCDs on eBay, since most doesn't come w/ warrenty! That would suck.

The old Princeton back from the 80's is nothing like the company it is today. Out of 25 15" LCD's 13 had to go back. One is still rotting away by the receptionist desk for the past 2 1/2 months now. A mixup with a RMA, if Princeton decides to bill the CC and/or complain about it then it'll go back on my dime. "Yeah we'll sell you defective junk & you get to pay to send it back to us. Brillant!

well i guess this says it all being that everyone had problems with their monitor, i guess i'm just plain lucky, mine works amazingly and the picture is crisp at 1280x1024 but when i bring it down it still works really well, the only thing is the picture isn't as good as it is with the 1280x1024, didn't get the rebate from them yet but hope to see it soon

I am now done with lcd's. I have recently acquired dell 2001fp, and moved my old 21" crt to the guest bedroom. The new 17" princeton was returned (nowhere near as good as the fp2001). That is it. LCDs are ok compared to CRT.
Lunchman!

0 dead pixels and still alive, but overall I'm not that happy with the quality of the Princeton. When you 'shake' an explorer window it bolds the text and doesn't look very clear, kind of a ghosting effect. My 3 year old Acer LCD doesn't do this. The colors are also very pale.
