 Walmart.com has the iLO DVDR04 DVD Recorder With +R/RW Capability for $150 + $7 shipping = $157 shipped. It even has FireWire input for direct recording from DV cams. The subsequent model will be called jLO.

I really hate the wallyworld culture, but they're so-o-o cheap! When you pay your workers little, and cheat them of full employment hours so you don't have to pay benefits or overtime or contribute to state unemployment compensation, and contract maintenance to companies that hire illegals, you should be cheap. Damn cheap.

I can't figure why they're so big (other than price) because their stores are depressing, filthy, and cluttered, with many items unmarked, and broken price scanners, overloud PA systems "we can't turn it down. Only Bentonville can turn it down", and slovenly employees who shout at each other to communicate. Our local store in Cleveland Heights OH is the worst I've ever seen. Most of the other W outlets here are similar. Worse, and even more depressing: Kmart.

as long as we're not working at walmart, we're not the ones suffering. it's actually BENEFICIAL to us who shop at walmart and save on their pennies over cost pricing strategy.
so what if illegal immigrants get ripped off. it's not like they have feelings. if they did, they would'nt be willing to squeeze into a confined trailer with 300 other smelly mehicans for weeks just to sneak into this country.

I won't ever endorse Walmart's employment practices that are illegal, but as far as pay, this is a free country and if people don't want to work for them they don't have to. And another reason they're cheap is that they've been able to keep the unions out. The unions tell us (the public) that we should be offended at this. My reply is that why should I pay more for the stuff I buy just so they can pay more to some guy who's getting paid what he is because he's in a union, not because he actually has a skill. As far as I'm concerned, the #1 reason they get picked on is because they're one of the biggest, richest companies in the world, and there are many out there who resent success of individuals and companies alike.

I don’t disagree with what has been said, but…
Wal-Mart also keeps prices down ( the anti-inflationary “Wal-Mart effect”) and this spills over into the general market, as well. Also, they hire senior adults and disabled people. Knock them all you want. They do some good.

Just checking this out. My complaint: I like the Ilo DVDR04 DVD recorder Wal Mart has, but it records DVDs with the region 1 encoding, which means I can't record a home movie DVD and send it to my friend in Russia. His region is 5, so it won't play on his! This is stupid! It would be a waste of my money to buy it. Why do they do stuff like this??
