Who pays $1400 for a latop? For that money, you can have an acceptable laptop plus a killer home system.

I love people who talk out of their A$$es. This is probably the most powerful laptop on the planet other than Alienware and Voodoo.

#5 I was trying to be nice

Ok, who the fuck needs "probably the most powerful laptop on the planet"?

My point is you can get a laptop that does everything you need a LAPTOP to do for half this price and still build a great gaming system for home with the left over money.

Unless you know lots of people who do lots of video editing on their laptops. Because even if they like to run cutting edge video games on their laptop, this isn't the one. That video card isn't good enough. So who does things that require huge CPU power on their laptops?

#8, what about us, who frequently travels, yet want laptop that still packs a punch to play today's games ..?? and portability at the same time??

i know the price is steep when you can build desktop system just as good or better at lower price, so it really goes back to your piggybank and your needs.

I think its great that people think they know everything about everything and therefore think that people need to hear thier opinion on the matter.

    #8

Nobody gives a fuck about if the laptop is more powerful than anyone needs, because your needs might be a lot different than #3's needs. I mean yeah for sitting around whacking your dick to some quality penis pictures on the internet you could probably get away with a pentium 2 laptop but I am sure that other people have better uses for it you monkey spanking piece of shit.

Wow... dealoday... Again, I need to stress that your posts are here just as stupid as anywhere else. The point here is NOT that this laptop is worth the 1400 bucks, because it isn't, but for a LAPTOP it is. I don't like to carry around my 19" monitor AND computer AND keyboard&mouse AND headphones when I go to a LAN party. This has integrated wireless, so you probably dont even need to bring a CAT5 CABLE!

Seriously, you're a moron, stop posting. Thanks.

And oh, by the way, I DO have this laptop you little sissy. The only problem I've heard from people (and from the morons at Best Buy) is that if you leave this guy on, it'll get pretty hot (you can feel the heat coming up through the keyboard). But hey, get a warranty and that problem will cease to be a problem. I just leave mine turned off when I'm not using it and it works fine. And oh yeah, battlefield vietnam at 1024x768 looks and runs very nice. Unfortunately, max resolution is 1200x800, but hey, most people dont run at higher than 1024 anyway when they play games.

    Hope this helped.
    Sincerely,
    Wrong

#9, this is not a good gaming machine. I could build/buy a $500 destop system that would spank this thing and send it running home to it's mommy in 3D games. In fact, I bought a dell last year with 2.66 P4, 512 megs of ram, CDRW, CDROM, 9800 pro that will spank this thing in games. $504 after rebate.

#10 you are an idiot. Nothing more needs to be said.

No one has still said why anyone would need a laptop like this. I am sure there are actually some people that do intense CPU work on their laptops. They probably get their machines from their company too because the job requires them. The rest of us are not going to see powerpoint work so much better on this than it does even on a celron much less a P4 or mobile athlon. Shit, how many times do you have to wait for excel to calculate something?

By the way, #6, if you really are looking for an intel series CPU and you're afraid of emachines (which you really shouldn't be, this laptop is nice, try it out at Best Buy), try looking at the Dell Inspiron 9100 with a p4 2.8GHz & hyperthreading AND a 64MB Radeon 9700 graphics chip.

    #11 anywhere else?

Hey dumbass, this laptop sucks for games compared to any decent desktop system. 64meg radeon mobility?

Give me a break! 9800 pro or 5900 are the only ways to go. It is ok that you insult me because I can see you aren't a real gamer anyway. You probably have a 9600 in your desktop machine and you think it is fast, real fast.

    Loser.

dealoday, do you ever stop your stupidity? Or does it just roll out minute by minute? #10 wrote a perfect response to your bs and yet the only thing you can write back is "#10 you are an idiot." You can't say anything more because he's RIGHT and YOU my friend are the stupid one.

And dont give me BS about how you're more correct, I've posted on here more than you have. I'm more familiar with anyone else that posts on here. Just stop posting, now.

Another post for you... why don't you go run some UT2004 on your 64 meg radeon mobility $1400 laptop. Turn the resolution down and turn off all the eye candy. Can you even tell what team you are shooting at. "Yes, but it is so SMOOTH" Define smooth, what are your loser framerates?

Listen, idiot, I probably have had a more powerful gaming machine than anyone else for a long time. My system before the one I use now was an AthlonXP 2800+ with an asus Nforce2. Now I have a p4 2.8C 800MHz FSB asus P4c800-e and a radeon 9700 pro. I have a 19" monitor, I play games in 1600x1200, I have klipsch 5.1 speakers with the decoder, and a total of 440GB of storage.

YOU are not being written to anymore. I'm going to embarrass you with anything more that you write.

    # 20     Posted 12:14 PM PDT 4/12 by dealoday - Email: N/A - IP: Hidden

    My main system is a 3.2 gig p4 with 1 gig running dual, 9800 pro. I have a 19inch Dell 1901 ultrasharp.

My kid even has a 2.66 p4, 1 gig running dual, 9800 pro, 19 crt.

What is your system that is "probably more powerful gaming machine than anyone else for a long time."?

Does it have a 64 meg radeon mobility card?

    dealoday,

i can see a market that would need a powerful laptop. what comes to mind right away is a vendor that needs to demo their product on multiple OS's, so they would have multiple instances of VMware with Windows2000, XP, 2003, and Linux.

another use for this is a web developer who works on this laptop with a regular monitor at work, then takes the laptop home. he has a IIS with ColdFusion on his laptop, and needs to test out ASP/CF apps. That along with having AIM (memory hog), Outlook, and a few web browsers open.

Of course all this can run on a P3 733, but if you can save time with just a few hundred bucks, there will be people who consider that a good deal.

    my two cents

    # 23     Posted 1:14 PM PDT 4/12 by kerygma - Email: N/A - IP: Hidden

Well, I'm a poweruser who would love to have a machine like this. Sure I could build a desktop for half the price, but who wants to lug around another desktop?

dealoday: What other laptop is this powerful for the money? What game could this laptop not handle? How much did you pay for your gaming laptop (not the big luggable with two 19"s). Not being strident, just curious what you have in mind that makes this so terrible.

IMHO, this is a great computer, though the cost is profibitive for a poor guy like me, but that goes for all decent laptops.

OK, #22 you have a point. But that is a very small number of people

#23 the video card is not all that great. It just seems crazy to me to spend so much on a laptop when every single part is going to be much more than it would be on a desktop system.

You can't even buy a laptop video card that comes close to the 9800 pro or 5950 ultra desktop cards and it seems silly to even try to make a laptop run cutting edge games at high resolution when that is not the purpose of a laptop anyway.

Sure you can make it do OK for high amounts of money but this is a bargain site, perhaps this laptop is a good deal if you need that much CPU power in a laptop.

I just get frustrated when people think a fast CPU makes for a hot gaming rig.

Oh well, it is fun to discuss....

    # 26     Posted 1:24 PM PDT 4/12 by kerygma - Email: N/A - IP: Hidden

Well, the Radeon (for this laptop) is a 9600 according to the official site (which also has the laptop for the same price - $1399 after rebate). So, as far as my earlier question about an equivalent laptop for less, while the CPU is underpowered in comparison, the Dell Inspiron 9100 (2.8GHz HT, $1274) with Radeon 9700 is probably a more balanced notebook. Might experience the video bottleneck on the eMachine earlier than you would on this Dell. But, as an earlier respondent noted, for anything CPU/memory bandwidth oriented, this will smoke the competition.

hey dealoday, first of all, this laptop has the RADEON 9600 M10 card, not MOBILITY RADEON.

The current fastest laptop vid card offering is the radeon 9700 (m11), followed by M10P (radeon 9600 with 128mb ram), and the third fastest laptop vid card is THIS ONE .. M10 non P with 64mb RAM .. after this, the go 5650 by nvidia.

sure it won't beat any desktop system, but once again, for some people, PORTABILITY MATTER, and I do play far cry @ 1024x768 w/ 2xAA, 2xAF on it WITHOUT a hitch.

For $1400???!!!! That is some serious money to pay for portability. I guess if you are rich. But then why are you reading this then?

dealoday .. how do u think I get to be rich? by saving money through deals on bensbargains :) .. and use it to buy other stuff, again thru bensbargains.

$1400 isn't bad for a laptop of desktop-replacement class .. companies like voodoopc sells $3,000 laptops and they do have consumers that so computer illiterate and think the $3000 tag price is justified.

like i said before, I'm a businessman, and I travel a lot, and the $1400 price tag that I paid for this very laptop is worth every penny for me. it might be overkill for college students, but it certainly is not for me.
