I hope they have a quick shipping method otherwise you are screwd, OCZ rebates have some malum per se in the terms.
2. The rebate request must be postmarked within fourteen (14) days
(including weekends) from date of purchase to qualify.

Yup, thanks for pointing that out, #1. Sure sign of a scummy company expecting to defraud a good portion of purchasers under that little clause. Quite often it's so ridiculous and far fetched that you can easily gloss over the ramifications of it when they include such things.

The lawmakers have been too busy opening our wallets to the thieves in the Banking system and military lately to bother with much else, but a little regulation of the rebate game is loooonng overdue. Thirty days after RECEIPT of the item should be the minimum acceptable requirement to get it all together and mailed in. Putting clauses into the "contract" like that allows any shipping delay to allow them to steal your money (UPS and USPS and the rebate house people ain't working Sundays but curiously the rebate house's clock is...).

The retailer is obviously benefiting by your purchase, so the retailer's shipping delay (of an "in stock" item) might be seen by the courts as collusion with the manufacturer to defraud the purchaser. I'm not a lawyer, but it's an interesting angle to pursue.

some of the ocz rebates i've seen say 12 days! scumbags!

I've seen rebates that were 7 days, it's not a big deal you just want to fill it out so it's ready to send in then if it's not delivered in time reject the delivery.

However, the $79 post-rebate price seems kinda steep when 16GB can now be had for $30 w/o any rebate.

Regardless of 7-12 days any product carries a return period of 30 days from almost all the retailers, now you tell me how you are going to return your POS product if you already cut the UPC bar. 12 days is not even funny order on saturday and they ship it on tuesday ground that is almost 10 days if you add the weekend from the next week. Any delays you are screwed.
There is so much a consumer can put up with and i'm not going to do business with any companies that enforces some shaddy rebate practices. OCZ may be have nice stuff but their terms makes them as trashy as the trailer park near downtown.

Like I wrote, if it doesn't arrive on time... to me, on time means you have a chance to test it.

In other words, if you want at least a day to test it, reject the delivery if it arrives the same day as the rebate is due.

It's not rocket science, do whatever you want but I've dealt with this situation often and what I wrote works for me.
